3SL’s launch of Stagehand involved not only a reconceptualization of user interfaces and interactions for the immersive environment but also of the user themselves. Aimed at capturing a quiet sense of tactility, Stagehand’s avatars - referred to in the app as “Presences” - focused on privacy, ambient movement, and a non-traditional approach to digital representations of the self.
